So you know me, I don’t follow trends so no #top9 for me.. I don’t have thousands of followers and that’s ok.. I just like to take photos of moments that mean something to me and make me feel real.. these are my Top 10 to say goodbye to 2020 as chosen by me, not Insta. Happy New Year every one.. bring on 21 🥂🥂🥂
And so this is Christmas and what have you done? Another year over, a new one just begun. John And Yoko Lennon. New beginnings for all of us, tomorrow, 1st Jan, our birthdays. It’s never too late to start right here now. 💙
Beer battered snapper, Vietnamese Salad... fresh, local, Australian and of course... delicious.. borrowed from other cultures but grateful and thankful for the taste experience you bestowed upon us. Thank you . #oneworld
He’s tall, I’m short. He doesn’t like Home and Away. I love it. He’s asleep, I’m awake. He’s awake and I’m asleep. He’s thin, I’m curvy. He’s messy. I’m a neat freak. He’s religious, I’m spiritual. I love speed. He’s Mr Safety (now a days anyway). I love the ocean, he loves the bush. We fit together like a well oiled machine though.. nearly 40 years and still respecting each other, still aware of each other’s space and still thankful for each day we wake up together. 💙love you MJP.
It’s a pinkish, maroonish sky. It’s obvious it’s a sign of things to come. Born and bred Queenslanders. Hope they do it this year xxx
Fresh blanched beans, organic Roma tomatoes, red onion, little cucumbers and Australian full cream feta, basil and parsley from the garden. We made a little dressing with balsamic, olive oil, chopped garlic, Dijon mustard, red wine vinegar, a teaspoon of brown sugar all shook up and tipped over. Served with a delicious BBQ wagyu rump steak tonight for Grand Final tonight xx
This time 4 years ago we were in Broome. It was such a beautiful occasion, a Union of families and a chance for nearly all of us to get together. It is 5 days I will never forget. Not only feeling like a part of a beautiful large family , but also feeling the love from everyone who was there.. Lucille was definitely with us that day.. it way so perfect 💙
Today was a good day.. such a change from the usual housework and grocery shopping grind.. today my daughter and I, yes she’s finally home again, took off to Mt Gravatt to meet Fizzy from @urbangreenbyfizzy and collect my prize from her from the latest @cassywallfood competition... but.. it turned out to be even more amazing as I got to meet Cass in person and let me tell you, she is just an absolutely amazing, kind, warm and beautiful lady. Fizzy is also an absolute star who’s passion for all things green will see her do amazing things too I am sure. She’s a tiny little pocket rocket. SEPTEMBER 22 2017 – 1:30PM

Redlands story competition winners are announced

  • Brian Williams

A LOVE of life in the Redlands has been captured in verse, prose, film and photographs by the winners of the Our Redlands Story Competition.

The competition, part of Redland City Council’s development of a brand which best defines the city, encouraged Redlanders to share stories about their home and what it meant to them.

A selection of these were published by the Redland City Bulletin. The creativity of locals was reflected with one entry which came via message in a bottle.

Enduring themes among more than 30 entries were water, greenery and Moreton Bay islands.

Redland mayor Karen Williams said entries showed a strong sense that the Redlands, its lifestyle and natural beauty were special.

“There are love stories, reflections on good times and wonderful  experiences but, above all, a sense that our city is a really great place to be,’’ Cr Williams said.

“A lot of passion for the Redlands was shown through the entries, with a common thread that we are indeed fortunate to call the Redlands home.’’

Cr Williams said the competition would be invaluable in developing a brand which captured the essence of the Redlands which was about the bay, wildlife, outdoors and community.

“Our entrants felt that Redlands made them feel relaxed, inspired, rejuvenated and that they live in a very special place in the world that is full of natural beauty.

“…These stories, photographs, videos, pictures, poems and even a song help define what’s unique about our city, how it makes us feel, what it gives us back and what we love about it.

“Our major prize winners were quite outstanding, with Veronica Mahoney-Hodges’ great take on just how wonderful it is to get home to the Redlands, Jo Dickson’s Dancing Mangroves, a captivating story in a bottle, and Jennifer Parker’s inspiring imagery in My Redlands.”

Cr Williams said council also had received valuable community input through focus groups with residents and visitors, online surveys, workshops, surveys and pop-up displays around the city.

“Redlands is a bit of a secret in many respects but we have so much to explore around every corner, whether it is our islands, our coastline, our bushland, our rich Quandamooka culture … and our European heritage,’’ she said.

“We want to get our message out about how great our city is and our brand will help do that.”

The new city brand is expected to be unveiled at the end of this year.

The winners, who will each get a Apple IPad 9.7inch retina 32GB Wi-Fi are:

Veronica Mahoney-Hodges, Raby Bay

Jo Dickson, Russell Island

Mike Selvage, Thornlands

Jennifer Parker, Victoria Point

Lexy and Leah Lever, Victoria Point

The runners-up, who will get Go Pro Hero4 Session are:
